Young Learners
We are proud to offer the highest quality English language courses for children (aged 8-12) and teenagers (aged 13-17) in a supportive, friendly and engaging atmosphere.
Timetable: your timetable depends on your level. Normally, you will have 3 – 4 timetable options.
1 hour 20 minutes twice a week Monday and Wednesday / Tuesday and Thursday, or
3 hours once a week (Fridays or Saturdays)
Groups: our average group size is 8 students (minimum 5 / maximum 14). Classes are often multi-lingual which is an excellent opportunity for your child to communicate only in English.

Course aims and content:
Throughout the course, our objective is to give your child the maximum opportunity to progress in all areas of English. The course uses a combination of a course book and extra materials to encourage your child to:
- develop an interest and be motivated to learn English.
- become better able to communicate comfortably and confidently when speaking.
- become better able to express their ideas clearly and accurately when writing.
- become better able to understand reading texts and audio recordings.
- expand the range of grammar and vocabulary they are able to use.
To achieve this, courses take a communicative approach and provide plenty of opportunities to use the new skills and language learnt to complete real-life tasks in the classroom.

Assessment:
Assessment methods depend on the student’s group and age. Students are continuously assessed in key areas: grammar; vocabulary; reading; listening; speaking and writing. Your child will regularly produce spoken and written work which will be assessed, and then detailed feedback given on their progress. The work that they produce is collated in their Student Portfolios.
The first step for any course at ELC is to do a level placement assessment and talk about your aims (even if you are a beginner). Please contact us to book your assessment and see your options.
