Niamh Fitzgerald
I am from the west of Ireland but have spent most of my time living in London until now. I am so excited to be in beautiful Portugal and to learn a new language. I have a degree in English, an MA in creative writing and the CELTA, which were all received back in London. I taught for three years in a secondary school in London, specialising in an SEN resource base for young people with Developmental Language Disorder. I’ve written some children’s stories for audio and write my own short stories and poetry when I can. If I’m not doing this, I will be walking my dog, Barbara, listening to music, or picking up ingredients for an afternoon of cooking.

António Pereira
I studied at the University of Lisbon's School of Arts and Humanities, graduating in 2020 with a master's degree in Literary Theory, following a bachelor's degree in Languages, Literatures and Cultures. It was during that time that I started to develop an interest in studying and teaching languages. In 2019 I began working as a tutor at a tuition centre, and teaching has been an integral part of my life ever since. In 2023 I decided to further develop my foreign language teaching skills, so I took the CELTA. I'm always trying to improve and learn new things in order to make my lessons the best they can be. When I'm not teaching, I like to read, play guitar and learn about computer science and electronics.

Lucy Cameron
I’m from beautiful Belfast in Northern Ireland but now I’m delighted to call Portugal home! I can easily put myself in the position of all the students at ELC; having completed a degree in French and Portuguese at university, I know what a challenging but rewarding journey learning a new language is. I love languages and practise reading and speaking French and Portuguese as often as possible. Since moving to Portugal in 2020, my Portuguese has improved a lot and I enjoy learning more and more every day!
Before becoming an English teacher, I trained as a gymnast for ten years and then worked as a gymnastics coach in Northern Ireland and Belgium. I’m a huge gymnastics fan and never miss a competition! When I’m not at school, you can find me doing gymnastics or yoga on the beach or drinking coffee beside the sea.

Maria Cunha
I am from Cascais and I work with Sónia in reception. I was a student here in ELC for three years and it is with great joy that I can come back now as part of the team. I am currently taking my degree in Law but I have always enjoyed learning new languages. Working in ELC has allowed me to practise my English daily as well as meeting amazing people from all over the world. When I am not at school, you can find me at the park reading a book or drinking a coffee with my friends beside the beach.
